On 3/1/00, Jorge Ramirez asked:

I have an Apple G3 computer running OS 8.1. If I leave my computer on over night and come back to it in the morning I notice my monitor is still on. Is there a way to have the monintor shut off so I do not burn the monitor.

Jorge,

Open the Energy Saver control panel (go to the Apple menu, highlite Control Panels, open the folder and open Energy Saver). You will see a sliding bar that tells the computer how long to wait before it goes to sleep. Click on the Show Details button on the bottom left. The second slider says, "Seperate timing for display sleep." This will put the monitor to sleep before the computer goes to sleep. That way, you have the option so that you won't burn the monitor. Click in the check box right above the slider, and set the slider to whatever time you would like--5 minutes, 10 minutes or never. Close the Energy Saver control panel and that should be it. I hope this helps.
